There paintings have started from a quest for old images, of thinkers and inventors, but what are they looking for: the opportunities that all the new technology offers us, or how we can protect ourselves against it?

In the series "breakthrough" it is about how ideas, discoveries and inventions keep shaping the human evolution and our modern world- view.

These paintings are not part of a particular series, yet they are made of the same fascinations and similar themes apparent in the more sequenced works. They consist of explorations, sometimes technical, other times in subject-matter that build upon or expand the series.

The series "Bygone Toys" has a melancholic background: images of antique toys that come back to life. The childish in all of us that seems forgotten, but that ultimately forms the essence of who we are; The toys made us dream, discover the world and awaken our creative consciousness, preparing us for what is yet to come...

The "Forgotten Inventions" series is based on forgotten inventions from the 1930s. It was a time of renewal, but it was combined with a quest for beauty, style and functionality. The Inter-war period is also interesting because of the similarities with our time, the feeling of being at a tilting point. It delves deeper into that cyclical nature of ideas: It remains fascinating to see how history, and its ideas are repeated again and again, but never in the same way.
